Gladys Marie Huick married Erniest Alfred Durrant in 1946 and moved to Esquimalt. They were proprietors for the family owned Darrant’s Bakery 1315 Esquimalt Road. Gladys a long-time member of the Esquimalt Arts & Crafts was well known for her pen and ink sketches of Esquimalt houses. She was one of the founding members of the Esquimalt Municipal Archives. Other Committees she served on: the 75’ Anniversary Committee, the Board of Wellness Centre (1991-1994), and the Esquimalt Heritage Advisory Committee (1988-1992). This committee was instrumental in the reopening of the Lampson Street School. She was a recipient of the Lescarbot Award.
Enes Frances Muriel Moscrip, nee Mitchell was born in Esquimalt, B.C., June 8, 1928. She attended Lampson Street School and Esquimalt High, and at Sprott Shaw Business School. She was the first May Queen in 1939. Enes Moscrip was a partner in a retail used furniture store with her husband Clarence Melvin Moscrip.

Alfred Charles Wurtele was born in Kingston, Ont., August 17, 1897. He married Anne Sherwood June 26, 1937, and they had two children: Anne and Elizabeth. He graduated from Royal Canadian Naval College. Alfred was captain of HMCS Stadacona in Halifax, NS. He served as Reeve of Esquimalt for 14 years (1952-65) and was a member of Council from 1946 to 1981. He was made the first Freeman of the Township of Esquimalt in 1987.
