Kenneth Bendall was a resident of Esquimalt, B.C. He attended school in Esquimalt and worked as Assistant Foreman at Yarrows Ltd. from 1939 to 1990. Ken provided an oral history in 1990. A written copy can be viewed/obtained from the Esquimalt municipal archives.
Margaret Allen (McCulloch) was born on Mar. 20, 1927 in Saskatoon. Married June 26, 1947 to William S. Allen and had 3 children. Mrs. Alllen volunteered for many causes. These included serving in the Tuck Shop at Sunset Lodge, canvassing for the Salvation Army, working with the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary - first at the Esquimalt Branch #172 and later at Trafalgar/Pro Pats Branch #292, regularly helping in the Tuck Shop at Broadmead Lodge and at the veterans' birthday parties at Broadmead. Margaret passed away September 15, 2020. An oral history was provided by Margaret's husband, Bill Allen, in 1990 and can be obtained from the Esquimalt municipal archives.
Ida Banfield (nee McAllister) was born in Seattle, Washington, and came to Victoria in 1919, settling in Esquimalt in 1922 where her father operated a confectionery. Ida McAllister married George Banfield of the Royal Canadian Navy in 1934 and they had four children. Ida Banfield was a life member of the Kiwaniannes. Lived at 474 Crittle St., 611 Pioneer St. & many rented homes. Ida Banfield passed away October 20, 2008. Ruth Craven is the daughter of Harry and Kitty Craven, who came to Esquimalt from Portsmouth, England, in 1912. Harry Craven was a plumber at Dockyard. She passed away on August 17, 2021. Ruth provided an oral history in 1990 which can be viewed/obtained from the Esquimalt Municipal Archives.
