Family Roots: She was born Helen Vivian Piddington, daughter of Major Arthur Grosvenor Piddington, and grew up in a prominent Edwardian home in Esquimalt, British Columbia. She chronicled her early life in the memoir Rumble Seat: A Victorian Childhood Remembered.Pioneer Life & Art: She studied and worked as a recognized printmaker and artist. In 1975, she and her husband, photographer Dane Campbell, moved to a remote modern-pioneer homestead in Blind Channel / Loughborough Inlet on the B.C. coast, an experience she wrote about in The Inlet: Memoirs of a Modern Pioneer.Collections: Her art prints and historical family files are preserved across regional institutions, including the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and local Vancouver Island archives
