Some alterations and additions have been made to the original building".

He carved much of the 'gingerbread' decoration himself, as well as the interior work and furniture. It is Italianate in style, sometimes called Steamboat Gothic".

Richard Wolfenden, a member of the Royal Engineers. Trafalgar was declared a Heritage Building in April 1990 and has received interior renovations in 1992".

The architect was Thomas Hooper. It was purchased in 1928 by R.H. Pooley, Esquimalt's representative in the BC Legislature from 1912 to 1937. It was declared as Heritage in June, 1985".

Reverse reads "The only residence in Esquimalt designed by Francis Mawson Rattenbury was built in 1909 for Arthur Coles, a real estate broker. Mr. Coles served as Reeve on Esquimalt Council from 1916 to1919. Extensive interior renovations were made in 1993".

It was declared a Heritage Building in February 1990 and after extensive renovations reopened in the Spring of 1993".
