St. Paul's Church was originally located at the foot of Signal Hill. Following concern that the church would suffer damage during gunnery practice from the Signal Hill battery, the church was relocated to its present location. This original location was never within the jurisdictional boundaries of Esquimalt and forms part of present-day CFB Esquimalt.
