Betty Beckett was a resident of Victoria, B.C. Her grandparents, William and Annie Monteith, lived at 712 Lampson St. Her father, Roger, was also raised here.
Frank Bendall was born in Esquimalt, B.C., attended Lampson Street School until WW2 broke out. As a 15 year old, he began his career at Yarrows shipyards and worked there as a Storesman for 47 years until his retirement in 1987. He was an avid bowler and sport fisherman and was one of the original members of the Esquimalt Anglers Fishing Club. Frank and his wife Milly had four children.
Kenneth Bendall was a resident of Esquimalt, B.C. He attended school in Esquimalt and worked as Assistant Foreman at Yarrows Ltd. from 1939 to 1990.
Jack Boutilier was born on September 1, 1941 in Regina. He came to the west coast as a member of the HMCS Naden Band before starting his career in Parks and Recreation, working in North Vancouver, Vernon, Powell River and finally Esquimalt, where he was employed as the Director of Parks and Rec from 1978-2000. An avid volunteer, he held numerous leadership positions with Provincial and National curling and recreation organizations, the Commonwealth Games, Victoria Jazz Festival, David Foster Fundraiser, Rotary Club and various sporting events. Jack was a member of the Chief and Petty Officers’ Association Band, practicing his tuba in the garage, much to the chagrin of his family. He and his wife, Mary Syvlia, were married in 1966 and had one daughter.
Tom Bown is a member of the Takata Gardens Society and collects images of the gardens as they were prior to World War II. Canadian Forest Service; British Columbia Museum 2 years; past 6 years Entomology Technician, Safer Ltd. Lived in Esquimalt 1968-1977, Esquimalt High School Grades 11 & 12. Served on Executive of Takata Japanese Garden Society. Married Linda Bown (nee Corbett), who was born in Victoria in 1954 and was educated in Esquimalt. She has been a teacher and worked in forestry and computers. She was a founding member of the Esquimalt Arts and Crafts Scholarship Foundation.
(Elsie) Josephine Briggs was born in England in 1907 and came to Esquimalt in 1912. Her father, Joe Knight, was a deep sea diver and they lived in Dockyard. She married in Earl in 1927 and had three daughters. Josephine moved to Medicine Hat in 1994. The Knight and Ockenden families had came to Esquimalt together from England and lived nearby in Dockyard.
Alice is the daughter of Mrs. W. H. Booth who lived at 923 Esquimalt Rd. from ca. 1920-1935, renting the house that belonged to the Wolfenden family. Mrs. Booth married a Canadian soldier in England during WWI. Mrs. Booth started the "Mothers Welcome" group.
Thomas Brunsdon was born in Victoria, B.C., and resided in Esquimalt. He was an instrument shop foreman at Dockyard. His father operated the End House in old Esquimalt village.
