Long-time resident of Esquimalt, Phoebe Edith Simmons (nee Buxton), the oldest child of the fourteen children in the well-known Buxton family, took pride in caring for her many siblings as they grew up. She was never happier than when she married the love of her life Barney Simmons and had two children of her own. Phoebe died 15 February 2013 at the age of 102 in Comox, BC. Buxton Green (Fleming Beach) is named to honour Kenneth (Ken) Edward Buxton who was born at Work Point Barracks in 1913. Raised in Esquimalt, he attended Lampson Street and Esquimalt High School. He served with the Canadian Army. Ken was a life member of the Esquimalt Anglers Association.
