Note
Lieut. Honorable Victor Albert Stanley, RN and Annie Bickerton Pooley (Lady Stanley) married at the St. Pauls' Anglican Church, November 25, 1896. It was one of the social events of the year. Lieutenant Stanley was the second son of Lord and Lady Stanley of Preston. Lord Stanley was a favorite godson of her majesty Queen Victoria. In 1980s, while Governor-General of Canada, he donated the land, now known as "Stanley Park" to the citizens of British Columbia. He also donated a cup, now called the "Stanley Cup" to promote Ice Hockey in Canada. It is now the premier prize in the National Hockey League.
