Administrative history
The HMCS Esquimalt Memorial Association was formed in memory of HMCS Esquimalt, the last Canadian warship lost during WWII near Halifax harbour on April 16, 1945. Between 1989 and 2011 the Association hosted yearly services at the HMCS Esquimalt memorial cairn on the anniversary of the ship's sinking. The services are now jointly hosted by the RCN and Township.
