Biographical history
Ida Banfield (nee McAllister) was born in Seattle, Washington, and came to Victoria in 1919, settling in Esquimalt in 1922 where her father operated a confectionery. Ida McAllister married George Banfield of the Royal Canadian Navy in 1934 and they had four children. Ida Banfield was a life member of the Kiwaniannes. Lived at 474 Crittle St., 611 Pioneer St. & many rented homes. Ida Banfield passed away October 20, 2008. Ida provided an oral history in 1990 which can be obtained from the Esquimalt municipal archives.
