        History

        Sam Ranns, Anna's husband, was the son of Mary Ethel Ranns. Mary Ethel was the widow of John Charles Ranns and later married James Quinn Batchelor on November 3, 1927. She was the matron at the Sailors Home known also as the Sailors' Club and Soldiers & Sailors Rest at the corner of Admirals and Esquimalt Rd. The building was sold in 1935 and became the Tudor House Beer Parlour.
